    UWMC Announces 2008-09 Campaign Results

    April 1st, 2009 | Posted in General

United Way of McLeod County Board President Kathy Silvernale announced today that the organization received pledges for $235,000 during its 2008-09 Campaign. The local United Way kicked-off its fundraising efforts during the McLeod County Fair in mid-August and officially closed the books on its most recent campaign March 31.

“Thanks and gratitude from our board of directors and staff goes out to the individuals, families, small businesses and corporations that gave of themselves in these challenging economic times,” said Silvernale. “This year’s campaign was a true testament to the generosity of people in this region.”

The $235,000 pledged amount shows a slight 5.0% decrease from the $247,160 raised during the 2007-08 Campaign. Additionally, the tally marks 84.0% of the $280,000 county-wide campaign need that was established for 2009. Last year UWMC partner agencies provided 33,000 units of service to individuals in McLeod County. In the last decade, the UWMC has dedicated over $2,000,000 in community investment to nearly 100 agencies providing services and programs in the area.

“As we conclude our second campaign as a county-wide entity, it’s amazing to see the level of philanthropy that exists in this region,” said Executive Director Paul Thompson. “One of the things we most enjoy about each campaign is getting into communities and letting folks know how their money is being used right here in McLeod County.”
